Dr. Stetson makes patients look "Ten Years Younger" in Reality TV show.

1/1/2008-TLC's nationally syndicated TV show "Ten Years Younger" is starting a new season in January 2008 and Diamond Vision has been chosen to be featured on the popular Reality show. "Ten Years Younger" takes real people that look older than they are, and invites them to step inside the "box" — a display case in the middle of New York. Complete strangers guess their age, and critique the appearance of the guests, while the "Glam Squad" is standing by to give them a complete makeover, to take a decade off a person's look in a mere 10 days.

While make up artists, hairstylists and wardrobe stylists work their magic, Dr. Stetson, Medical Director at Diamond Vision, steps in to transform their lives and appearances with his laser vision correction skills. "This is a 'feel-good show', and it is so much fun to be part of it, said Dr. Stetson. It dramatizes how lives get transformed every day by laser vision correction here at Diamond Vision."

Dr. Stetson has performed more than 15,000 laser vision correction procedures and was previously Medical Director of the prestigious Air Force Academy Laser Eye Clinic.

Check you local listings for TLC's new episodes of "Ten Years Younger" featuring Dr. Stetson, starting January 7th.

NASA-approved Custom Intralase LASIK.

10/1/2007 – People who are considering vision correction have another reason to be confident in LASIK, now that the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) has approved the new advanced, all-laser LASIK technologies for use on U.S. astronauts.

Diamond Vision, the #1 LASIK practice in the tri-state area, has pioneered the advanced procedure recently approved by NASA. It was the first to offer it in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut and to teach it to other doctors.

The announcement comes on the heels of a sensational literature review published by the trade journal Archives of Ophthalmology, according to which LASIK may be five times safer than contact lenses. It also follows announcements by the US Department of Defense in May 2007 that it is endorsing bladeless LASIK for all its branches of service.

“NASA’s approval clearly validates bladeless LASIK’s safety and effectiveness”, said Dr. Steve Stetson, MD, Medical Director at Diamond Vision. Even consumers’ most extreme lifestyles are nothing compared to being ejected from an F16 or the severe pressure changes experienced by astronauts.”

Space-age LASIK is bladeless. While more than 11 million LASIK procedures have been performed to date in the US, it wasn’t until LASIK developed into an all-laser procedure that NASA approved it for use on astronauts who face the extreme, physical challenges of space travel and zero gravity.

The specific form of LASIK approved by NASA involves two steps: the creation of a corneal flap using the ultra-precise Intralase laser, and the sculpting of the cornea behind the flap using an advanced customized ablation. The NASA decision was made following review of extensive military clinical trials. These studies revealed, for example, that:

  • Almost 90 percent of Navy pilots rated their ability to land on an aircraft carrier as better after the procedure.
  • More than 90 percent of marksmen had improvement in marksmanship skills after laser vision correction; a significant result given the visual precision of marksmen.
  • In a study of different methods to create the LASIK flap, 370 naval personnel underwent bilateral LASIK with either the Intralase method or the earlier, mechanical blade.  One week after surgery more than 76 percent of Intralase patients achieved at least 20/16 (better than 20/20)compared to 58 percent of patients who underwent manual LASIK.

Dr. Steven Stetson, MD, Medical Director of Diamond Vision was previously Medical Director of the prestigious Air Force Academy Laser Eye Clinic. His outstanding results persuaded the Air Force to endorse LASIK for its personnel. At Diamond Vision, Dr. Stetson is leading a team of highly specialized eye surgeons with outstanding experience and expertise in Custom bladeless “Intralase” LASIK.

“We are very pleased to give our patients the luxury of space”, said Steven Stetson, MD, Medical Director of Diamond Vision – this will truly be our flagship office.”

The Greening of LASIK

It started with the affluent and the educated. It is now reaching every layer of society. The search for pure, wholesome, chemical-free products and lifestyles is one of the most powerful consumer trends of this Century. Consumption of mineral water is up. Consumption of soda is down, and organic producers see their sales grow by 20% each year.

Diamond Vision is pioneering the quest for natural, wholesome solutions to vision impairments. Last year, it decided to systematically use preservative-free tears for all its surface ablations, and has now become the largest prescriber of preservative-free artificial tears in the tri-state area. Preservative-free eye drops were made possible by new containers that prevent contamination from the outside without the need for added chemicals. Dr. Gould, Chief Scientific Advisor at Diamond Vision has patented a unique container system which aims at making preservatives obsolete by using a valve that insulates the drops from outside air and bacteria. “In the future we will be able to extend the benefits of preservative-free purity to all kinds of eye drops, not just the lubricants used to prevent dryness”, predicts Dr. Gould.

Diamond Vision is also building on the wellness movement to help patients feel reassured during the LASIK procedure. “Over the years, we have developed a protocol that allows patients to relax and have a positive surgical experience”, said Christine Becker, Director of Quality Assurance, who is in charge of the laser rooms at all Diamond Vision locations. In the Manhattan laser suite, Ms Becker worked with sounds and colors to create a spa-like atmosphere.

Patient satisfaction at an all-time high

New York, 9-9-2005. For the third straight month, patient satisfaction at Diamond Vision has been at an all-time high, with 100% of patients surveyed saying they would either recommend, or consider recommending Diamond Vision to their friends or family (no patient stated that they would NOT recommend Diamond Vision).

Specifically, satisfaction rates have reached new heights when patients were asked to rate their experience during the free consultation and on the day of surgery.

“The whole team here at Diamond Vision is thrilled with these results”, stated Isabelle Filatov PhD, President of Diamond Vision. “In our almost ten years of existence we have always had high patient satisfaction rates, but these latest results show that we were able to do even better to give Diamond Vision patients extraordinary results and a first-class experience.”

Patient referrals are also at an all-time high, both in absolute numbers and as a proportion of total referrals.

Brad Botelho, Chief Operating Officer and Vice-President, attributed the higher rates to new surgeons, to ongoing efforts at training, and to new incentives that encourage the staff to offer superior customer service.

Diamond Vision is the only New York metro practice to monitor customer satisfaction in all its locations, on an ongoing basis.

New Jersey Police Officer “Sees Clearly”
as Diamond Vision Contest Winner

PATERSON , NJ (May, 05) - Nelson Morales was a New Jersey police officer with a problem. Not only was he a respected member of the highly trained Canine Unit within his division, but was also a marksman. A member of S.W.A.T., he spent hours peering through the scope of a high powered rifle, waiting for that one second, that one clean shot.

Not the best time to have to adjust your glasses.

Officer Morales didn't know what to do.

“It was getting to the point where I'd be in the woods with my police dog, and my glasses would come off. I'd have to stop, find them, clean them off, put them back on,” and all the while my dog is barking, raring to catch the suspect,” said Officer Morales. “Or, even worse, I'd have to adjust my glasses while looking through my rifle's scope. I'd have to stop, readjust, I'd lose valuable time. I didn't know what to do.”

Then Officer Morales considered laser eye surgery. He checked out different practices, but kept coming back to the Diamond Vision web site. Then one day, he saw the contest on the Diamond Vision site for free LASIK. He entered, telling the story of how he'd love to not have to wear his glasses while tracking a criminal with his dog, or while on a mission.

Officer Morales' story was moving and heartfelt enough to beat out the 85 entries into the Diamond Vision “See Clearly” contest, and Officer Morales had his surgery last month.

“It's like a miracle,” said Officer Morales. “No more glasses, no more worrying that I'll lose them – I can focus on the citizens I've taken a sworn oath to protect – making sure they stay safe and my community feels secure knowing I'm on the job. Thank you, Diamond Vision!”
